OASMIA CONFIRMS ORPHAN DRUG DESIGNATION FOR OAS-PAC-100 (PACLITAXEL MICELLAR)
Oasmia has now, in accordance with previous information from the company, received a formal approval from the European Medical Agency EMEA, for orphan drug designation of the product OASPAC- 100, for the indication ovarian cancer. The EMEA report strengthens the company's position.
As has been previously reported, Oasmia applied for orphan drug designation for the product OAS-PAC-100 with the European Medical Agency EMEA. Oasmia has now obtained a formal approval and opinion from EMEA. The opinion states that OAS-PAC-100 (paclitaxel micellar) means a potentially significant benefit for patients affected by the condition, in particular with regards to improved safety.
The opinion is according to Oasmia's expectations and strengthens Oasmia's position for the future. The interest in the company's oncology portfolio has recently increased significantly.
Further information about the registration process for OAS-PAC-100 will be given in February, 2007.
